This award has been established by Garden Aurora in honor of Margaret Howard Gunn.
Margaret was a woman who valued education and a flower show enthusiast.
She was knowledgeable and had a passion about horticulture, and was awarded
Garden Aurora’s life-time membership along with many other awards.
Award description:
The successful applicant will be awarded $500 which will be paid directly to the educational
institution as part of the student’s tuition. The successful candidate will be invited to attend
a Garden Aurora meeting for presentation and photo opportunity.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Candidates who are past or present residents of Aurora will receive extra consideration.
- Consideration will be given to a candidate pursuing horticultural studies at an accredited Ontario college or university, or any other valid institute of higher learning at the discretion of the selection committee.
- Some appropriate areas of study may include but are not limited to:
- Agronomy, Botany, Conservation Ecology, Floral Design, Forestry, Horticultural Science, Landscape Architecture
- Applicants who will be attending a first year program will be given extra consideration.
- The successful candidate may re-apply for the next offering of this award, but preference will go to first-time applicants.
- Mature students are welcome to apply.
Application requirements:
- Applicants are to provide proof of acceptance into a full-time program as described above.
- Applicants are to fill out and submit the application provided below (and any other documents they might feel to be beneficial) by e-mail to: gardenauroraaward@gmail.com
- Applicants are invited to apply between May 1st and July 31th. Applications will not be accepted before or after these dates.
- Successful applicants will be contacted during the month of August.
